Indispensable

I saw the moon last night
Before getting on my train
Amidst electric wires and tall trees
I felt her staring at me.
I stole her beauty with a shot
Had one myself for the road
Harboured suspicions about my vision
She was audaciously ostentatious.
Getting off at destination
Eyes wide open gaped at her halo
A perfect circle drawn in milk
Ice crystals refracting light, an aura, white.
I had never witness such a spectacle
Though I marvelled at her sight
A thousand times before, or more,
Alas, who would have known
One could shine another’s light
Still be brilliantly indispensable
Graciously beautiful, a miracle
Sparking the mightiest awe.
