Sun Down

I heed its presence as I awake
My eyes struggling to open make their way
Through the curtain and the window
And the leafy branches of the sacred fig tree.
I smile grasping its shades depending on them
I discern whether it is early or late,
Sparking a whole new dream made of reality
A 12-hour spectacle of vibrating blistering rays.
It follows me throughout the day in silence
Sees my every movement notices my actions
Without any judgement envelops me in warmth.
Its sole existence allows that of all creatures
Mine included sparkling spontaneous gratitude
For gratuitous nature galore. I’m in love,
With a star not so far yet distant enough,
To keep me in balance betwixt earth and the skies
Of azure turning red as night approaches
Multifarious lights a grand finale announcing
The end of the show the main character ignores,
For it will continue beguiling other beings round the globe.
Sun goes down behind the tip of the island
My only thought my anticipating excitement
For when I’ll heed its presence as I awake
If I do, once more. Until then I’ll dream
My reality, the sweetest dream of all.
