Back to when I begin

The room was dark the light bulb broken
Only a flickering red spot suspended
Above a drum-shaped silhouette I discern
A doorless capsule of metal and gold.
A mystic summoning lure and my curiosity
Possess my pace and steps I approach,
Self-hollowing a temporary entrance
Materialises afore me an invitation I cross
The ephemeral threshold to the unknown.
As I sit on the crystal armchair of what appears
To be a cockpit deprived of control
Panels and a safety belt only a calendar
A split flap destination display to nowhere
Along the river of time I try, search for a button
Neglecting to bridle spontaneous thoughts
Sooner than I know commanding
The motionless journey to when my mind sets course,
Back to a past I had never lived before
To seven thousand five hundred years ago
I float, over lands of green where man had started
Cultivation and agriculture building homes,
Millions displacing stones, megalithic temples
Devoted to a kind they called Gods, while they
Called us Humans their divinity manifest
Through their knowledge, our humanity yet intact.
Deities flew in vessels as mortals walked
They are teaching us the stars, something goes wrong
My capsule spins and thrusts me forwards
Seven thousand five hundred years into the future.
Taken aback and gobsmacked I see the result
Of an equation written on a cosmic blackboard
My endearing ancestors ascending
From earthly creatures to celestial beings,
Navigating space with the same nonchalance
In my time we wandered gardens,
The tangibility of their bodies dissolved
Giving shape to omnific ethereal spirits,
Reunited with the All by a unique language
Unspoken, mental synapses evolving
Gleaning truth from universal consciousness
Sharing ideas through waves of energy attuned.
Peace the only option, not by choice
But by natural condition, no distinction made
Under the light of life, gods and humans equals
For what we were they had been and what they are
We became. I smile,
As my capsule takes me back to when I begin.
