In three days you taught me silence

Thought I knew what silence was
Until you took me places, no music
In the car nor singing out of tune,
Muted radio only thoughts
Jammed the network with ideas,
Slipping away as fast as they come
Impossibly expressed in words
Spoken out loud, unnecessary as I
Realised you could hear them,
The ebullient conversation between
My synapses and dare I assume, yours too,
A game of fantasy engendering fables
Blending reality with dreams
Odd mystic sensations beyond intellect
Enriching our experience, a journey
Made of multifarious trips deprived
Of destinations, a thousand
Kilometres of awe and discovery
Thermal ecstasy in azure rivers
Drops from heaven heated by Earth
As I imagine an oceanless world
Driving through country roads with no end
Vineyards and hay bales to the woods
Reaching an ancient hermitage before
Getting caught in a serendipitous deluge,
Finding shelter under protruding rocks
Attempting to recreate humanity
Hopelessly and stubbornly believing
A rule can be concocted for everyone
Fostering harmony nature contact love,
Feeling and making only difference
I believe in the possibility you don’t.
When I called you surreal you took it
As a compliment while I still wonder
Whether it actually was, I hadn’t
Seen the sky as much as I have
These three days laying on grass,
I’ll wait for sobriety to draw my conclusions
In the meantime I thank you for keeping
Silent.
