As countries celebrate the end of the second
Global war their foe surrendering on the seventh
Of May, seventy-five years ago, the town crier
Announces a novel enemy, to humanity

Arising from conspiracies, submicroscopic,
That is quite invisible, to our naked eyes.

Blind eyes. And I ponder upon our actions,
The glory of our good intentions, question
What have we done, since the end of the second
Global war. The shameful answer is many more.

Forty-four million forty thousand three hundred
Humans lost to ninety-nine conflicts, some of which
We heard and others, we completely neglect. All
Of which we ignore the causes without the slightest care.

Murdered by conspiracies, submicroscopic,
That is quite invisible, to our naked eyes.

Blind eyes. Many are called civil wars despite
Foreign meddling, arms are handed as candies
Missiles dropped as food reliefs, medicines withheld.
We take sides, cheer to support our favourite team.

Until we get to pick the fruits of our investments,
Watered with our interests, exploiting resources
Transformed for us to buy. R&D needs tantalum
For its latest gadget five point four million humans die.

The Great African War led by conspiracies, submicroscopic,
That is quite invisible, to our naked eyes.

Blind eyes. From blood diamonds to conflict minerals,
Miners are minors, everyone loves their little fingers,
For a dollar a day to feed their siblings while their fathers
Have been killed by human traffickers. So that

The weapon industry may survive and the economy
Blossom on their flowerless graves. As countries celebrate
The end of the second global war, I feel nauseous and terrified
To see Humanity rejoicing for a conflict that ended

With the blast of two nuclear bombs. Subatomic particles
That are quite invisible, to our naked eyes.
