Mea culpa

To all those whom I allowed to hurt me
I beg your pardon, I humbly apologise.
I ask forgiveness for naively consenting
To be your accomplice in your malaise.
I was brought up to be a lady, a kind one,
A person capable of compassionate caring,
Of listening and understanding so I tried,
Giving in to your caprices swallowing your words
Respectfully absorbing your malefic behaviours
Justifying your actions with endless lists of reasons
Identifying the signs of your traumas misleading
You to think they served as perfectly good excuses,
Uselessly attempting to cure your mal de vivre
Make you happier by vomiting upon you my peace
Stupidly believing that it could be contagious
Infecting you with enduring calmness and loving smiles,
Telling you that everything was going to be just fine
Whilst I neglected your blindness to crystal truths,
Your perceptions of reality distorted by those
Who hurt you first and those as I who indulged you
In your psychopathic rendition of a life.
To all those whom I allowed to hurt me
I beg your pardon, I humbly apologise.
