Thank you

I was considering our differences the way
We walk I gently you like to hear the sound
Of your steps your heels the pavement tremble,
We eat I follow the etiquette you are oblivious to
I wait for you to start you are finished before my plate
Arrives. And again, you like to hear the sounds
Of your mouth your mastication the production
Of saliva gulping your bites before you even chew them
As you use every meal to check your socials,
We speak I wish we didn’t your ideas a potpourri
Of everything you ever overheard chit-chatting
With strangers in the night under the influence of smoke,
Still wonder whether you have any of your own.
We relate to others you have a biased sense of justice
Opinionated you reject my more loving approach
Treating all as my equals accepting everyone for who they are.
You enjoy turning on animated conversations borderline
Discussions argued only to light up raging flames
In interlocutors I cherish peace sharing smiles.
You are by all means the most surreal creature
I have ever met and yet, climbing down from my pedestal
I am ashamed, of my considerations for it hit me
You treated me much more nicely than I did you
You saw me much more beautiful than I saw you,
Now my only question is ‘Who am I?’
To judge you granted in silence and only in my mind?
To appal afore our differences and why
Albeit my wishes you simply do not suffice me?
Defeated I have sinned my hypocrisy my ignominy
I ask for your forgiveness as I bring the curtains down on us
Whilst I confess the irrational feeling for which I repent,
I thought I was too good for you neglecting to realise
Indeed you were too good for me. So thank you,
For giving me a much needed lesson of humility.
