The Unspoken

Forever I have heard people’s voices
Made it a point to listen and keep quiet
Heed their words seeking to decipher the unspoken
Desperately lingering on to discern a piece of me.
Heard them endlessly repeat, life’s a gift
A marvellous wonder to be lived, with courage
Curiosity, patience, audacity, leniency,
Understanding. Yet I encountered oh so many
Afraid, to die. Wishing they could turn back
The hands of time, have another chance,
Maybe even do it all again, most beg,
To be able to accomplish plans, projects, dreams,
An existence perhaps long enough for them
To be satisfied, with themselves, to smile
Before the inevitable, last sigh. Alas,
To date I have not heard them speak
My thoughts the ones, which forever tell
Me all is just the way it is, supposed to be,
Inciting me to indulge and never dwell
Granting me peace whilst distancing me
From the rest of my kind, leaving me to feel
Unattached, to the life they
So desperately cling on to, different
For I am not scared, alone for I still wait
On someone to say, they feel the same way.
