You stuck on me since day one
At the time I was hustling my way out
Exploring the vastness of a bustling world
Too busy to heed the discreetness of your presence.
Unable to recall the first time I noticed you
I rapidly became acquainted and used to you
So much so that I still dared to ignore you
For longer than you ever deserved.
Albeit a myriad distractions I now pay attention
To your immobile evolution and lucubrate
The randomness of your mark, the logic behind
What increasingly looks a pattern of chaotic dots
Delineating a map of constellations I blend
With though-through tattoos, yet still wonder
Why you decided to blemish precisely that spot
On my abdomen a naevus of darkness, the canvas
A milky skin of silk, absorbing light
Especially in summer, to defy your reign
With a chameleonic tan attempting to camouflage
Your throne whilst you endure and turn
Even darker.
My dear mole I have learnt to love you,
Miss you when I forget to notice you, always
Sense relief when I find you where I left you,
Between my belly button, Orion and Ursa Major.
