To have and to hold

Come what may there is a bond
Locked at inception, when
Metamorphosing Energy conceives
A corporeal body, ethereal consciousness
An impalpable spirit, both
Predetermined to serve each other
One, the vessel of the other a way,
The Universe tells its creatures
They are not ever alone.
Instilling particles of itself within all
That exists to have and to hold,
Unspoken vows setting the grounds
To an earthly sublime lifetime rapport,
The longest love affair of all, the one,
Between I and Self. No abscondence,
No potion to swallow forget, neglect,
No other to fill its space, to feel, no intimacy
As intense, nowhere to hide, no lies
To any avail, no omission remains
A secret yet, in truth a choice is made,
Regard, respect, introspect, become aware,
Whether to treat Self with tenderness
Self-love, heed its words vibrations
Resonating through every nerve,
Rhythmicising the flow, of blood
In veins of life down the river of time, Or
Suffocate Self with disdain, self-contempt,
Blame it for shortcomings confuse it
With demons, cry on it repeating to convince it
The victim’s mantra ‘Life’s not fair’,
Shut it up don’t let it delight
In existence for nothing’s worthwhile,
Howbeit remember its presence
You will always perceive, and when
Mirroring on crafted sand observe
The traces of that familiar face
The face you gaze, that of Self.
